Laura Merten, divisional vice president, heads legal services for Walgreens Health Services. Merten is also the privacy officer for Walgreen Co. and its subsidiaries.

Merten joined Walgreens in 1988 as an attorney, was promoted to senior attorney in 1993 and became Walgreens director of Business Development in 2000. Beginning in 2002 she served as the enterprise-wide privacy officer. In 2004, she joined the division as head of legal services and was promoted to her current position in 2006.

She received her bachelor of science degree in general management and finance from Purdue University, a law degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, and a master of laws in taxation from DePaul University.
