Consultant pharmacists for skilled nursing

Our dedicated consultant pharmacists are the heart of our business. They consult objectively and make your patient's health a priority in a cost-effective manner.

Our pharmacists are:

Experienced

All of our consultant pharmacists have experience caring for the geriatric population. Most of our consultant pharmacists are certified geriatric pharmacists, a designation obtained only after a minimum of two years of clinical practice.

The pharmacists also need to pass the certification exam administered by the Commission for Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy

Educated

Walgreens is committed to supporting the continuing education of our consultant pharmacists. We encourage them to keep abreast of the new clinical trends and practices through regular attendance at industry-specific annual meetings focused on geriatric health.

Compliance-focused

Our consultant pharmacists are well-versed in applicable state and federal regulations to help ensure compliance. Avoidance of pharmacy-related F-tags helps keep your facility running smoothly and problem free.

To comply with applicable CMS guidelines, our consultant pharmacists utilize e-prescribing technology and work to make certain that new admissions are assessed within prescribed time frames.

Collaborative

Our consultant pharmacists work collaboratively with your medical staff to:

  • Help ensure that appropriate medication therapies are followed
  • Provide clinical support
  • Develop and support your formulary
  • Participate in quality improvement meetings

Detailed

Our consultant pharmacists review patient records and then provide your facility with reports containing comprehensive data needed to monitor costs, quality and service so that you can make informed decisions to keep your facility running efficiently.

Our standard practice is to review our reports through an exit consultation with you. These face-to-face meetings serve as a forum to discuss our findings, answer questions, implement changes as indicated and review regional and national benchmarking data to help you assess your facility's performance.

Accessible

While our consultant pharmacists aren't in your facility every day, you can count on them to support you and your staff during your state survey. They can participate by phone or in person, as time allows, providing the immediate response needed during the survey process.
