Compounding medications
When it comes to prescription medications, the "one size fits all" theory may not hold true. That's why Walgreens offers a customized and convenient solution for patients with individual medication needs -- compounding medication services. With compounding medication services, patients have the option to:
- Take customized patient-specific dosages
- Receive combined medications in one dose
- Request a dosage type in an easier-to-take dosage form (e.g., from tablet to liquid)
- Obtain medications with alternative inactive ingredients to avoid allergy issues
Walgreens has 340 compounding centers nationwide -- making it easier for your members to acquire customized prescriptions at local Walgreens pharmacies. Our pharmacists who prepare compounded medications are specially trained and have access to hundreds of fully researched, standardized and referenced recipes through our Walgreens system. We utilize electronic third-party billing, eliminating the need for direct member reimbursement. We also offer fair and consistent pricing among our pharmacies for compounded products.
