Starting home infusion therapy

Walgreens understands the fears and anxieties that come with learning you or a loved one has a bleeding disorder.

First, we want to assure you all our staff members are specially trained in the physical, emotional and financial aspects of bleeding disorders care.

Our comprehensive services and individualized care approach help patients and families successfully cope with this disorder.

Patient care coordination

As a new patient we will assign you a patient care coordinator. The coordinator will arrange to meet your product and medical equipment needs, coordinate infusion education and training sessions and handle all aspects of home nursing as needed. The coordinators provide courteous, helpful service and promptly respond to your needs.

Insurance

Once your physician has prescribed your factor and bleeding disorders therapy, our reimbursement specialists begin the process of verifying your insurance coverage.

Because you may feel overwhelmed with this process, we handle the paperwork and work with your insurer to secure maximum coverage for your therapy. Walgreens also strives to fill factor prescriptions as close to the prescribed dose as possible. This helps manage your insurance benefit.

Ordering

Ordering factor and supplies is easy with Walgreens. Your patient care coordinator will work with you to coordinate your specific therapy and delivery needs. For next-day delivery, we recommend that you call us no later than 2 p.m. (CST) the day before.

Emergencies

Because we know it's optimal to infuse within three hours of the onset of a bleed, we will work with you in emergency situations to make sure you receive what you need as soon as possible.

Support programs

Caring for the physical health and well-being of people with bleeding disorders is just part of what we do. We also support you through all stages of life and treatment.
