Treating anemia

Sometimes fatigue is due to anemia and cannot be improved through lifestyle changes alone.

Fatigue experienced by people with cancer may be caused by a low red blood cell count, called anemia. Anemia can be a side effect of chemotherapy. To treat anemia, your doctor may prescribe blood transfusions or medication to help the body create more red blood cells. Your doctor may prescribe other medications to manage fatigue not related to anemia.
