When to call the doctor

The American Cancer Society recommends talking with your doctor as soon as possible if you experience any of these symptoms while taking oral chemotherapy medication:

  • Your fatigue does not improve, returns or becomes severe.
  • You are more tired than usual during or after an activity.
  • Your tiredness is not attributed to an activity.
  • Your fatigue is not relieved by rest or sleep.
  • You become confused or cannot concentrate.
  • You cannot get out of bed for more than 24 hours.
  • Your fatigue disrupts your work, social life or daily routine.
