FAQ: Revlimid®

Following are answers to some common questions patients may have while taking Revlimid®.

Do I need to swallow this medication whole?

Yes, swallow Revlimid® whole and drink a full glass of water.

Tip: Do not break, chew, or open your capsules.

Tip: If you have trouble swallowing pills, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Should I take this medication with food?

Revlimid® can be taken with or without food.

Can I drink coffee or have caffeinated-laden products with Revlimid?

Caffeine is not restricted when taking Revlimid®, but you should talk to your doctor about how much caffeine, if any, is safe for you to consume during your treatment.

Tip: Caffeine can irritate your digestive system and worsen medication side effects such as diarrhea and fatigue.

Tip: Remember many teas and soft drinks contain caffeine.

Can I go in the sun with this medication?

Yes, but be sure to protect your skin and apply sunblock with at least 30 SPF.

Tip: Revlimid® might make your skin dry and more sensitive.

Can I drink alcohol with this medication?

Alcohol is not restricted when taking Revlimid®, but you should talk to your doctor about how much alcohol, if any, is safe for you to consume during your treatment.

Tip: Alcohol can make you more tired, irritate your digestive system and worsen medication-related side effects such as diarrhea and mouth sores.

Can I take this medication with milk?

Yes, but if you have diarrhea, you may find it helpful to avoid milk and other dairy products, which can irritate your digestive system.

Can I take this medication concurrently with my other medications?

Yes. Revlimid® may be taken with other medications. Be sure to check whether other medications you are taking, including herbal supplements, have any restrictions.

Tip: Follow all directions and consult your pharmacist or doctor if you are unsure about how and when to take your medications.

I missed a dose. What should I do next?

If you miss a dose of Revlimid®, take it as soon as you remember (within the same day).

Tips: If you miss a dose and do not remember until the next day, skip the missed dose and take the next dose as scheduled. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. Ask your doctor for more information if you are unsure about how to proceed after missing a dose.

Does Revlimid® have any known potentially serious interactions with grapefruit products?

No.
